update on D

D is doing better....it's been hard for him to just sit and not do anything. He is bored, bored, bored! His abdomen area has been bloated from the air that they blew in during the surgery. He also said that it had been hard to get up and down with out using his abs. For a couple of days he had been walking or shuffling from place to place. He did go to practice the next day after he got home from the hospital. The kids and I drove him and played at a park while he sat at practice. Every day is getting better and better...he tires out easily but a nap a day revives him. K and E miss having dad hold them and play with them but soon enough he'll be back to normal.

D got his appendix out yesterday. It was a little bit of a surprise. His stomach had been hurting and he wasn't feeling the greatest on Saturday...although he felt well enough to go running in the morning and a 40 min bike ride in the afternoon. By Sunday morning it was starting to hurt really bad. He finally went to the ER and they said he had classic symptoms of appendicitis. So they scheduled him for surgery. He had a laparoscopy instead of an incision...he has 3 little marks where they went in. He was feeling fine after the surgery and is coming home shortly from the hospital...Recovery time should be short and he has to wait 72 hours before he can run again.

Our vacation

We had a blast up North in TC....we went and stayed at a Hampton Inn in TC. We were right across the road from the State park beach..the hotel had a pool which K loved! We had a very relaxing time..this was the first vacation that we have taken as just our family...I think we would like to do this again next year.

Locks of Love

Ok...not the greatest picture but I had grown my hair so that I was able to donate it to Locks of Love. Locks of Love is an organization that takes hair donations and makes wigs for children who have cancer. I actually got it cut Mother's Day weekend but haven't wanted to post a picture of me. I had exactly 10 inches which is what you are supposed to have. Did you know that it takes 7 donations to make 1 wig for someone? It was great to have a "new do" I would encourage all of you if you have the patience to grow your hair...it is definitely worth it.

School is Out!

D is done with school and looking forward to having the summer at home. K is VERY excited that her dad will be home when she gets up. D does have practice with the XC team starting on Wed. morning. Which will be good since the mornings is our running around time. We have several fun things happening this summer, so keep your eyes out for our fun adventures to come.
